Mucky Lanes to Masham on Weds 11 January 2017 led by Graham Banks

My pre-ride email advice that it would be “very muddy and puddly for 100m or so (but passable with care)” p

Cycle to Fremington 7th January 2017

Posted by James Gravenor on 2017-01-08

Eleven of us cycled from Richmond to Fremington on Barbara's ride. We started with a stiff ascent up Sleagill and a steady pull up through Hudswell before descending to Downholme. At Walburn Hall we split into two groups - one going more directly to Fremington and the other via Whipperdale Bank over Grinton Moor.

The Dirty Dozen ride 14 December 2016

Posted by James Gravenor on 2016-12-16

Having won the prize for the wettest ride of 2016 (it should really have been the worse ride but the section was too kind) I have already been nominated for the dirtiest ride of 2017 even though the year has not yet begun. I was leading Peter Knowles's ride. Peter was not well enough to lead it himself. I would like to pass the responsibility onto Peter for the route but unfortunately it was all of my own design.

A Tale of Two Cafes

Posted by James Gravenor on 2016-12-12

On Wednesday 7th December a large party (I think 15 at one time but people came and went on route) cycled frm Richmond to High Parks Gallery and Cafe near Newton le Willows. The Cafe, one of our top 5, was very welcoming and the ride was very enjoyable - not much else to say really.

Brompton to Newby led by Peter B on 30th November

Posted by Peter Bennison on 2016-11-30

A very cold but sunny day's ride was enjoyed by ten of us earlier today, I was joined by Jenny, Yvonne, Barbara, Glenys, Bernie, James, Mike, Peter Bradley and Richard.

We set off from Brompton Village green and rolled north easterly over the undulating (see ride profile) roads towards Crathorne. We were not the only cyclists out enjoying the fine weather as we came across several riders in the opposite direction.

Ride to Roots 23 November 2016

Posted by Mark Thorogood on 2016-11-29

We had a lovely day for the ride. Monday was awful, Tuesday was nearly as bad and Wedesdaay could not have been better. We met at the cafe in Hurworth and everyone got there early enough for a pre ride drink. A few of us had cycled in, From Darlington or Barton and we had 14 people for the ride.

Dufton Weekend Cycling

Posted by James Gravenor on 2016-11-13

Dufton was a weekend of two halves. The Saturday was glorious and we managed a 60 mile ride from Dufton to Talkin Tarn and back. The outward journey was into a cold headwind but we were blown back to the hostel.

The autumn colours were wonderful and the roads very quiet.

50th Anniversary Ride

Posted by James Gravenor on 2016-11-13

In thinking of ways to celebrate the Club's 50th Anniversary, Peter B came up with the great idea of 50 people cycling 50 miles on the anniversary of the founding of the Club. This was in addition to visiting 50 different cafes during the year which we easily achieved.
