Seven of us went to Trowbarrow. We all had a good day. I have never seen the crag so busy. I put it down to the new Lancashire Rock guidebook which recently went on sale. The Saxby family first got started with Astrid leading Coral Sea. Subsequently Phil and Andy led the same. Phil also led Harijan and Ramp Ant. Ian and Andy led Barrier Reef. I also led Ramp Ant and a severe under the "diving board" but the name escapes me. At the end of the day Phil was relieved to see his phone still on the roof of my car where he left it.
A small but select group of climbers fitting the spectrum of age and ability tending towards ‘mature’ has evolved in recent years. ‘Coffin Dodgers’ was the name that stuck, shortened to ‘Dodgers’ more recently.
It was a good turn out for Harry's meet to Buckbarrow. Eight of us met at the A66 at Melsonby in beautiful sunshine. We were Harry and Ian, Phil and Janet, Ray and Will and Andy and me. However the weather was an East and West divide and the lovely hot weather disappeared at Stainmore.
About a dozen SOC members turned out for tonight's session at Eston Nab. Pleasantly quiet summer evening. Views of industrial Teesside instead of moors and mountains for a change.
