We discussed my ride today at home on Wednesday evening & realised between the two of us we could put on two rides which hopefully would appeal to a number of SOC riders. Consequently the email went out on Thursday morning entitled "There will be choice"
Despite Saturday morning dawning very wet, but by the 10am start time 7 intrepid riders left Barton in light rain. Numbers soon swelled to 10 as we collected 3 more en route.
By Neasham the rain had eased & 2 of our party removed full waterproofs. You know who you are! Please don't do that again on our ride unless the sun ☀️ is cracking the flags!! It was raining hard within 10 minutes of their over hasty action😂
We carried on towards Yarm before a coffee at Kirklevington Grange Cafe. No files were found in the scones; but I suppose that is to be expected given we weren't the ones keen to be out🤔
Close to Middleton in Leven, by which time all rain had stopped, the two rides separated. 8 turned right for Hutton Rudby while the other 2 turned left for Seamer.
After Hutton Rudby the 8 headed to Roots @ East Rounton for a second cafe stop before returning to Barton via Appleton Wiske, Smeaton & the Cowtons before tea at our house. 45 miles & 1,800 feet of ascent for them.
Meanwhile after Seamer the other two, not to be confused with the New Order spin off "The Other Two" 😂 made their way to the Aytons, Stokesley & then rejoined the 8's route at Hutton Rudby. Including a stop at Roots & tea out our house. 60 miles & 2,200 feet of ascent.
