Darlington to Roots

Darlington to Roots

Today’s pop-up ride took us from Darlington to Roots Café. Three of us set off from Blackwell Post Office, meeting 3 more riders at Croft.

The first half of the ride was cold and overcast, but the weather soon improved. By the time we reached Roots, the sun was shining and it turned into a beautiful, clear blue day — the kind we could easily get used to.

As we arrived early, we were able to order from the breakfast menu. The unanimous choice was poached eggs on sourdough, and it did not disappoint — absolutely delicious. After an enjoyable hour of good conversation, we set off again for a sunny return ride.

It was lovely to see the daffodils starting to bloom everywhere — a sure sign that spring is on the way. If only a few of those 4x4 drivers would bloom a bit more awareness too!

Many thanks to everyone who joined me today — a thoroughly enjoyable day.
