Liz's Family Walks

Posted by Swaledale Outdoor Club on 2012-11-11
“On a beautiful sunny Saturday in October we met in Swainby for a family walk dressed to the nines thinking it would be cold up on the moor. How wrong we were! Janet and her 2 grandchildren, Ben and Louise, joined us (Liz, Tils and Lily) and we waited around for Anna and Ethan and Alice. Hubby had had to stay at home for a viewing we were excited to get, so we expected it to be a walk of dominant females with 2 boys in tow. No, Uncle John turned up with Anna and proved a hit with everyone.

Walkers on Wheels! (A Tale of Many Bridges) - Saturday 6th October

Posted by Swaledale Outdoor Club on 2012-10-24

A bright, sunny day at Preston Hall at a civilised hour marked the start of our ‘walk’ for a group of us and our varied bikes.  Adam and I took about 5 minutes to realise we were on the wrong bikes at this point, as we set off through the wooded area of Preston Park.  (Thank you John for waiting whilst I teetered on very thin wheels through the trees and then took the wrong turn within the first 10 minutes!)

Lyn's Walk from Kilburn Thurs 4 October 2012

Posted by Swaledale Outdoor Club on 2012-10-08

On a lovely sunny October morning with beautiful clear blue skies, a complete contrast to the previous wet dreary day, a rather elite (I have to say)  troup of twelve walkers turned up including new member Andy.  James cut it slightly fine as Barbara screeched into the car park to drop him off and Graham M even finer but we were not in a hurry and were all in excellent spirits given the weather and managed to set off with a spring in our step shortly after 10.00 am.

Alan Scott's Walk 30 September 2012

Alan Scott’s Walk – Sunday 30th September, 2012

Unfortunately, due to injury, Alan was unable to do the programmed walk, and I stepped in as contact/coordinator for the day.

And what an awful day, weather wise, it turned out to be! It was so bad that only Elke Kaye, a prospective member, and I gathered in Richmond Market Place.
