Ravenstonedale – Thursday 6 October 2016

Parking our cars outside the Kings Head Hotel was a reassuring statement of intent for Graham as we set off, from the village of Ravenstonedale, for our day out on the Howgill Fells, on a superb bright and crisp morning. My feet feeling very comfortable and happy in a pair of socks loaned to me by Yvonne, mine having decided to stay at home in the draw for the day.

Witton Moor and the Six Dales Trail from East Witton – 13th October 2016

We were a party of eight on what definitely felt like the first walk of autumn! The morning brought low cloud and mizzle turning to decidedly wetting rain as we pondered on where to stop for lunch.  I decided I had better take the photo for the walk at this point and you may well feel sorry for us all.

Harkerside Moor from Reeth Thursday 21st July

11 members joined Carol and Steve at Reeth Green for this classic Swaledale walk. The weather was glorious, the temperature having moderated slightly from the 30 degrees which we had earlier in the week. We walked down to the suspension bridge and had a lovely riverside ramble followed by a slight climb up to the Harkerside Moor road. After a short section of road walking, we climbed up to Maiden Castle for a coffee stop.

ADDLEBROUGH – 7 JULY 2016

We arrived in Askrigg to find 4 walkers already gathered for the advertised 10.30am start.  In fact, through force of habit, they had been there for a 10 o’clock start and were beginning to wonder where their leader was.  The initial group plus Gwyneth, Dave and Carol Wilkinson and myself were joined (at the correct time) by Patrick.
