Whitby Abbey to Robin Hood’s Bay and return – 31/07/2011.

A fine day saw Mike & Liz I, Geoff & Brian H, Jo B & Joe R turn out for this walk, which I stood in to lead in place of Bob B. The route was to be along the cliff tops to  R.H. Bay and return via the same route. The views from the cliffs were outstanding, with interesting views along the way of the remains of unfortunate shipwrecks, and the disused lighthouse and fog horns at ‘Hornblower’s Cottage, which is now a letting accommodation. Upon taking lunch at the bay top, we took the option of a quicker route back along the old railway track to save a parking ticket fine for one car owner who had under subscribed at the Abbey car park.

Otherwise an enjoyable day.
