Sunbiggin Tarn 3 June 2021
Everything was almost perfect for the walk today from Sunbiggin Tarn. Could have just done with some of that sunshine we’d had over the previous few days. It was a comfortable walking temperature with little wind and far reaching views of the North Pennines and Howgill fells. The meadows were full of wild flowers and growing young livestock. Limestone scenery and the lovely hidden Potts valley completed the picture. We saw nobody else on the entire walk until we met two Coast to Coasters in the last half hour and some mountain bikers when we got back to the cars. It was difficult to imagine the hoards in the Lakes and the Dales. The drive to Sunbiggin was over an hour for some of the group but I’m sure they felt it was well worth it to visit such a quiet and beautiful area.
