Reeth 30 October 2016

British Summer time ended this weekend giving us all an extra hour in bed. It was a glorious mid Autumn day as we met at Reeth Village Green for our walk up Fremington Edge. Tim & Berni, Mark T, Mike Palmer, Len & Joan, Yvonne and Brian Harker joined us.

We set off across Reeth Show field to Fremington and climbed steadily up the track to the summit of Fremington Edge. We opted to take the more attractive path on the southern side of the wall, avoiding the marathon route, and we were rewarded with tremendous views as we walked westwards. We had a coffee stop near a large cairn and chatted to some Mountain Bikers. Carol handed out Halloween “Haribo” treats to our party and the Mountain bikers ! We had lunch at the large cairn overlooking Booze, and we could not remember a more calm, beautiful day on Fremington Edge.

We descended to Storthwaite Hall and took the path which rises half way up the Southern flanks and enjoyed the Autumn colours.

We returned to Reeth and adjourned to the Kings Arms for refreshments. 7 miles (dead on, according to Mark) in good company.
