Christmas Lunch Walks 12 December 2021

On Sunday 12 December about 30 walkers enjoyed a splendid Christmas lunch at The Station in Richmond following two walks of about six miles. Caroline led 16 from Market Place along the river Swale to Hudswell Steps.  Barely halfway up we continued west, eventually reaching the National Trust permissive path through Hag Wood.  A steep climb was rewarded with a coffee stop and a view toward Richmond and the castle.  Our return skirted woodland and crossed fields, eventually making our way back through Billy Bank Wood.

The other equally lovely walk was led by Pat and Ron in an easterly direction from the Market Place to Easby village.  From there we walked through the old quarry at St Trinians and crossed the fields towards Union House which are the subject of a planning proposal for a solar farm.  We paused by the fishing lake on the bridleway between Skeeby and Brompton-on-Swale for our coffee stop before returning to the Station via the old railway line.
