Calva & Fremington Edge from Reeth, Thursday 9th November 2017

10 members joined Steve & Carol at Reeth for this classic 10 mile walk, known for years as the Calva Circular. I’m sure that I (Steve) invented this title!

The weather was cold but sunny as we headed up the stony path towards Riddings Farm and we strode out along the flanks of Calva, admiring the far reaching views towards upper Swaledale. We had coffee above Cringley Bottom before heading to Foregill Gate into Arkengarthdale. Lunch was taken just before Storthwaite Hall and the ascent of Fremington Edge brought us into the biting wind which always seems to be present at the summit cairn. We had a brief stop along Fremington Edge before descending by the rocky track back to Fremington where 5 of us finished off the walk in fine style with drinks and cake at the Bike Centre café.

A terrific day out in great weather.
