Autumn Sunshine on the North York Moors
Five of us joined Dave S to form a Covid friendly group of 6 for his walk from the top of Boltby Bank on the edge of the North York Moors. The walk took us on an anti-clockwise circuit of around 9.5 miles taking in Arden Hall and Thorodale where Dave had chosen a sheltered spot for our picnic with a lovely view of the Autumn colours.
After we had climbed out of Thorodale we took a short diversion to view the small memorial to the Canadian crew of a Halifax bomber who lost their lives when they crashed in March 1944 on the way back to Croft aerodrome.
We joined the Cleveland Way and headed south before returning via Gallow Hill and Boltby Forest.
It was a lovely walk in Autumn sunshine, although the breeze on the tops was a bit chilly, and Dave’s traditional flapjack was the icing on the cake!
