Ard Crags & Knott Rigg 9 June 2011
Ard Crags & Knott Rigg –
A cheery group of 8 met at Chapel Bridge Car Park, Little Town on a bright sunny morning.
We set off and passed the site on which had stood the ‘iconic’ purple house until it’s destruction by fire a couple of years ago.
The new building seems to ‘Grand Design’ which you may like and you may not !
We started our ascent of Ard Crags and gradually, wonderful panoramic views came into sight. We reached the crest of Aikin Knott and then proceeded along the glorious ridge to the tiny summit cairn of Ard Crags. We continued our climb and stopped for lunch just before the summit of Knott Rigg.
There were fantastic views in all directions. Onward to the top and then our gradual descent continued along Keskadale Edge down to Keskadale Farm.
The walk continued through fields
back to the car park.
We visited the tea shop in Portinscale and then all met up again in the evening for a meal and drinks which completed a wonderful day.
