11 members met in the tiny village of Appersett in upper Wensleydale. The weather was kind to us and we enjoyed early spring sunshine for much of the walk. We took advantage of a break by the lovely Cotter Force to enjoy a cup of coffee before proceeding up High Rigg, cutting across open moorland before the summit into the tranquil Cotterdale. The approach views were outstanding. After passing through the village, we walked through fields, gradually gaining height and we enjoyed our lunch in the sun with fine southerly views. We reached a section of the Pennine Way before descending steeply through fields to reach Appersett once again. Some of us finished off the walk at the Posthorn Teashop in Leyburn and all agreed that it was a splendid spring walk.
