The wizards of Os(motherley)
We managed a good turnout of nine riders for the ride which was good to see, even better was the fact that we had also attracted another possible new comer Rob.
The 10:30 start was slightly delayed, partly due to yours truly who was faffing with his GPS as I’m still yet to learn all of its functions.
Eventually we all set off, me excited at the prospect of being able to follow my electronic route. That failed before the first turn as I had planned in a climb on a footpath. In all there were another three mistakes that I had input to the device.
Thankfully we had the Sarah B ‘the homing pigeon’ as well as Emz who knows the area really well.
We set off towards Scugdale on the Cleveland way along towards Barkers Ridge, before dropping down through Arnsgill ridge. Continuing through to Low Cote Farm then just past before taking a right near to Wheat Beck which took us to Dale Head. Once past we carried on to the road which brought us out to Square Corner.
Here we swung right towards Chequers before turning right again on to High Lane. This then brought us down the infamous sheep wash, which a few people ‘sessioned’ trying different lines. I took the chance to jump off and capture a few snaps which all got loaded to the MTB Facebook page. After a few minutes of playing about we carried on along the road which brought us to the café at Osmotherley. The weather was very kind and we were pleased with how dry the whole ride was. The smell of spring and better weather might just be with us soon!
18 ish miles,
