Seathwaite; Ullswater Singletrack

Pete and Phil were our designated chefs for the Saturday evening, producing a lovely moroccan fish stew with cuscous.  I followed this up with two very large crumbles and copious amounts of custard (sorry, but over catering is in my genes)!

The Sunday ride around Ulswater got off to a good start with nine people breakfasting on left over crumble and custard and then being late for the start! This excess proved too much for Nev and Sas who, despite good intentions of doing an alternative ride near Staveley, ended up doing a walk and then finding a cafe that served all day breakfast.  Think they still did better than G and Kev though.......

The rest of us enjoyed the usual thrills and spills of the challenging Ulswater singletrack. No huge crashes to report, with people doing well on the tricky bits.  There was a bit of a rebellion at Patterdale, with myself, Phil, Ems, Pete and Dave A declining the delightful ‘hike a bike’ up to the snow at Boardale Hause and opting for a 9 mile spin back along the road to the pub instead.  The ‘hardcore’ group of Baz, Andy, Lucy, Alan & Sarah continued onwards and upwards, enjoying a secret grassy switchback decent down into Boardale (too much snow for the usual excursion to Martindale).  We all met up in the pub for tea, hot chocolate and even more crumble!  Altogether a rather fabulous weekend!
