An easy going (?) outing from Langthwaite
Five of us met up in Langthwaite for a Saturday easy going ride. Dave T, Alan and I welcomed Mel (that well known roadie!) and her friend Janet for their first go at mountain biking with the club. We set off up the hill to Fore Gill Gate and then on up toward Punchard Gill and all had fun on the grassy track that switchbacks down into Arkengarthdale. We stopped for a snack and to inspect a strange relic of the mining era and then carried on up the Stang to Moresdale Road. Our easy going outing should have ended by heading back down to Langthwaite but the weather was beautiful (autumnal leaves and sunshine) so the vote was to lengthen our ride by hooning down Moresdale Road and then coming back down through the old quarry. Mel and Janet did a great job biking down through the quarry, definitely mountain bikers in the making, and we all ended up safely down by the river. We re-convened at Dales cafe for cake and sat outside in the sun - lovely weather for the end of November. Thanks everyone for an excellent and very rewarding day out.
