Easter in North Wales

Ten of us headed to North Wales for Easter this year. Dave T, Neil S and Yvette stayed in Penmachno, Steve, Judith, Karen and Andy stayed in Betws y Coed and Alan, Dave G and I were in Llanwrst but we managed to get our collective act together and met up for rides and evening meals. The weather was reasonable but with a fair amount of slightly drizzly weather so we had a late start one morning to avoid some of it and Alan, Dave and I bailed a bit early on the first day as well. On Friday we headed over to Dolwydellan and then headed back over on Sarn Helen (an old Roman Road) before a short section of the Marin trail to finish. We spent Saturday at Coed y Brenin and did some old favourites plus a new slab section that was quite exciting - steep when perched on top of a bike. Simon joined us on Sunday for a trip around the Marin trail, complete with a new extra swoopy section, and with the excellent last descent still as good as ever. Steve managed to pull a muscle in his leg whilst pushing his bike so he and Judith took a short cut back. Monday saw a lot of tired legs so only Karen, Andy, Alan and I headed to the Penmachno trail and only Karen and Andy did the top loop. We found some very big puddles and ended up the wettest we had been all weekend. Best bit of the weekend turned out to be the restaurants I had booked for our evening meals, three good choices (hurrah for Trip Advisor) and we had good food and service everywhere. Thanks everyone for coming, a fun weekend with lots of tricky riding.
