Dry trails around Harkerside
Despite the cold weather at the beginning of May the trails in Swaledale were dry and lovely by the middle of the month. Six of us (Yvette, Jenny, Dave T, Peter, Richard and me) met up on a windy, sunny Saturday near Grinton Youth Hostel for a ride around the interesting bits on Harkerside. Alan couldn't come out to play as his forks hadn't come back from the menders - they eventually arrived back while I was out so he did get a ride along Applegarth in recompense. The rest of us started with a flog up to the top of the Height of Greets and then had a swift and fun descent down to the smelt mill and the delights of Cogden Gill area. We couldn't resist extending the ride a bit as the trails were running so well so we climbed up for another top to bottom run down. And then headed to Dales cafe for cake. Great to see Richard again and thanks to everyone for a perfect ride out.
