Weds 10 May - Around 2 Daltons led by Graham Banks
A perfect cycling day with no wind and glorious cool sunshine.
Most of the usual Weds gang had the excuse of just returning from the Hebrides trip, but maybe the A/B rating put some off?
A fit gang of 6 speedy men set off from Newby Wiske, with Alec impressively cycling from Stokesley and Steve and John from Jeater Houses/A19.
We followed the flat and fast country lanes, see route at: https://cycle.travel/map/journey/33877 -arriving in Dalton on Tees an hour later (photo taken on green).
Lunch was enjoyed in the sunny courtyard at Joe Cornish's gallery cafe in Northallerton with inviting new 'cyclists welcome' banners and multiple bike racks.
Then on to Thirsk and Dalton village 2, and home via the meandering back roads to Pickhill and over the old railway bridge link to Maunby, which was easily rideable this time being so dry, albeit a bit rough. Further refreshments were consumed back at my place in S Otterington.
A good 60 mile ride at a faster (A) pace (av 16mph) and unusually we were mostly cycling in a close group, with hardly any stops.
Thanks for coming on a good blast of a ride.
