Steve & Carol’s Ride from Scorton, Wednesday 1st April 2015

Posted by Carol Charlton on 2015-04-02
The weather forecast prior to this ride was poor – high winds, sleet & snow showers and very cold. However, the weather had improved somewhat and 10 of us met at Scorton to ‘fuel up’ for the ride.  Steve had the obligatory bacon sandwich at Joan’s Cafe!
The weather was fine but very breezy as we set off towards Moulton and Middleton Tyas.  The wind helped us along from here to Croft, Eryholme and Great Smeaton.  However, the wind was against us as we cycled to East Cowton and onwards to our lunch stop at Dalton Gates where the staff coped admirably in their busy café with our lunch orders.  Steve & Lyn joined us for lunch before returning home.
The return route to Scorton was via Moulton, 5 miles into the ‘teeth’ of a strong wind which was difficult for us as this was our first ride of the year! James, Barbara and Peter left us at Moulton to return to Richmond whilst the rest of us continued onward to Scorton.
A challenging ride of nearly 30 miles but good to meet up with our cycling friends again.
