Mick has an up and down day!! - 20th July 2016

Mick, John S, Peter & Pauline, Jenny, Yvonne, Mark, Pete Bradley and I left Bishop Auckland and headed towards Hamsterly. After 12 miles, we voted for a coffee stop at Peggotty's; “a traditional, family run bakery in the heart of Wolsingham”.

Showers were forecast, but we generally found that by the time you decided to stop and put your showerproof on, the rain had stopped and the sun was out.
With the hilly route Mick had planned for us (his regular weekly training ride), it was necessary to disrobe sharpish to avoid overheating!

After Frosterly and Hill End we tackled two hills to get us over Bollihope, rewarded by spectacular views and a lunch stop at Eggy Hall. At this establishment, I thought Mick was in toilet and said “out you come”, fortunately not too loudly, because someone else emerged! Pausing for a photo shoot after lunch, we then climbed Eggy Bank, to Woodlands and Windmill.

A few miles from “home”, Yvonne’s bike acquired a puncture in the back wheel. Whilst Yvonne and John repaired it, the rest of us basked in the sun.

We enjoyed the down -hill run back to Bishop, saying farewell and thank you to Mick before our return to the car park.

43.1 miles and 3835 ft climbed!  see Strava link for details and route  'https://www.strava.com/activities/648701756/embed/ad172c228147b673d46a44...'
