Mark's 65th birthday ride on 13th March 2016
Mark's ride on 13th March 2016 was the day of his 65th birthday, which turned out to be a beautiful spring day.The twelve riders who gathered at the start from Thirsk consisted of Mark, Mike, John, Paul, Mike, Peter & Pauline, Carol, Bob, Ann, Jenny and myself.
Mark managed to lead the whole route from memory, impressive for an OAP and occasionally "aided" by John referring to page 107 of the loose sheets from his road atlas.
We enjoyed a leisurely lunch at the Cascade Garden Centre at Bishop Monkton, followed by chocolate cake in honour of Mark's birthday.
Slightly later than planned, Glenys and Glenys arrived, having been on their own route by tandem but delayed by a puncture.
We had done a fraction of mile short of 50 miles by the time we returned to Thirsk. Mike and Jenny circuited the market place to make up the distance to 50 miles!
Thank you Mark for a well planned ride through some pretty villages and lanes.
