Liz's Spring Rides from Brompton, Northallerton

Posted by Bernadine McDonald on 2016-03-28
On Wednesday 24th February, Liz led a ride to Scruton, with a healthy turn-out of 15 in total, including two new-comers, Sheila and Vicky. Besides Liz and myself, the other riders were Ken, Mark, Pauline, Carol, James, Barbara, John, Judith, Graham, Jenny, Yvonne and Peter C.
En route to Scruton, we encountered myriads of spring flowers, then stopped for lunch at the aptly named Spring House Farm Shop and Café; (see what I done there!!). This is actually situated on the A684, Northallerton to Bedale road - and with café scoring in mind, sells locally produced food with opening hours of seven days a week. By the time we were back at Brompton, we'd done a happy ride of 34 miles.
On Saturday 19th March, Liz was again lucky with the weather. (I was hoping people would assume I was early, but alas, they correctly guessed that I had presumed a 10 am start rather than 10.30 am!) There were eight riders, namely Liz, Paul, Mark, Ken, Judith, Jenny, Yvonne and myself. We had a bargain lunch at Paddock Farm Nursery & Water Gardens, which is at Dalton Gates. Billed as a ride of 30ish miles, we'd done 30 miles at the finish in Brompton, where we assembled for the photograph (except for Paul, who had already headed for home!)
