Crummock Water and Lowes Water from Buttermere, 30th June 2017
Mark, Berni, James and Barbara joined us on this short ride on the first morning of the Camp weekend. The weather had looked threatening but in the event, we had a dry day in very pleasant conditions. We started the ride in traditional fashion at the café in Buttermere village - we had all had a long journey to the start of the ride and were in dire need of refreshments. The bacon butties did not disappoint.
The ride began by climbing out of the village to Crummock Water where the lakeside road gave us fabulous views. We cycled onwards to Lowes Water where we had a brief stop, then onwards to climb above the Lake to Mockerlin. The views above Mockerlin were far reaching and stunning. We passed through the villages of Pardshaw and Brandingill and arrived at the Old Barn café near Lorton. The service was slow but the quality of the food was worth the wait. The return to Buttermere gave us another great view of Crummock Water.
21 miles of brilliance!
