Coverdale - Saturday 27th February
A pop-up ride was prompted by a good weather forecast and to offer an alternative to Seathwaite for those unable to attend.
Jenny also needed to get her 500 miles in before the month end and Majorca training beckons for some.
Six of us set off from Masham (with 3 coming further from home), including 2 invited guests from Ripon Cycling Club to help set a faster pace.
Descending to East Witton Jenny had her first puncture, followed soon after by another at Coverham bridge, due to a slit in her tyre wall. Terry fettled it with a piece of toothpaste tube and this got her to the warm and cosy Castle Keep teashop in Middleham, whilst the rest of us toured the surprisingly hilly but quiet Coverdale.
An excellent lunch was enjoyed by all, but not scored this time due to the low turnout, but we'll be back.
We easily extended the route back to Masham via Thorntons Steward and Watlass, Snape, Carthorpe, West Tanfield, Mickley and Grewelthorpe to make it 48.5 miles with 3,400' of climbing in total.
