Brompton to Newby led by Peter B on 30th November
A very cold but sunny day's ride was enjoyed by ten of us earlier today, I was joined by Jenny, Yvonne, Barbara, Glenys, Bernie, James, Mike, Peter Bradley and Richard.
We set off from Brompton Village green and rolled north easterly over the undulating (see ride profile) roads towards Crathorne. We were not the only cyclists out enjoying the fine weather as we came across several riders in the opposite direction.
A steady pace was set and mainly achieved with the excellent back marking of James, the fitness of the riders and the limited undulations allowed us to make great progress through Hutton Rudby to our lunchtime destination at the Arcadia Garden Centre.
Delicious soup or scones seemed to be the favourite choices and after a 2nd cup of coffee (for some) we set off back. The pace was slightly increased as the ride leader was engrossed in conversations with either Jenny or Richard and neither of these are slouches!
Thankfully we all arrived back at Brompton in one piece and with an average pace of just over 12 MPH – C pace!!
So, a nice steady sunny ride, great company, tasty lunch and genuine undulations were enjoyed by all!
Ride mileage was 40.3 - mileage shown includes home to Brompton.
