Wharncliffe - 26 Feb 2012

Two climbers turned up at Scotch Corner services at 9.30am Ray and myself. We subsequently drove down the A1 to Sinderby to collect Callum and how nice Sinderby looked in the sunshine with all the snowdrops out.
We arrived at Wharncliffe, six miles from Sheffield, around 11.30am. I've got to say it was a quality call of Ray's to go there the crag was sheltered and warm all day. We couldn't ask for better weather for the end of February.
We achieved six climbs. Firstly Callum lead Putrell's Progress (S) followed by Tower Face (HS) and then to quote the Rockfax guide "the classic of the crag" Himmelswillen (VS 4C). It was a classic I loved it. Ray then lead Great Buttress Arete (E1 5B) and Beta Crack (HS 4A). I then decided to quit on a high if you can call it that! Callum went onto lead Railway Wall (VS 4C) with Ray. Then it was 4.00pm and time to go home. It was a great day out.
