Buckbarrow near Kendal 18 September

It was a good turn out for Harry's meet to Buckbarrow. Eight of us met at the A66 at Melsonby in beautiful sunshine. We were Harry and Ian, Phil and Janet, Ray and Will and Andy and me. However the weather was an East and West divide and the lovely hot weather disappeared at Stainmore.

Harry and Ian went up Linjeston's Climb VS then Sad Gill Wall S. Phil and Janet also did the 4 pitch Sad Gill Wall. Ray and Will led Linjeston's Climb, The Hog's Back HVS and Express Crack E1. I led Waterfall Buttress S.  Andy was keen to lead Dandle Buttress S but when a loose rock came down and ripped my trousers and cut my leg I was not so keen. We bailed out and went to lead the popular Sad Gill Wall. By the end of the day rain was threatening and we were all glad to leave the bad weather behind us and head home. It felt like we had experienced a real mountain day out on Buckbarrow. Carol
