Swaledale Outdoor Club uses the following methods of communication to inform members, plan activities and encourage participation.
The quarterly email newsletter includes a summary of recent events, developments within the club and details of forthcoming major or club-wide events. You can see whether you are subscribed to the quarterly newsletter via the "My Account" option in the "User Menu" on the web site. An archive of old newsletters is available in the "Club Information" menu on the left.
Swaledale Outdoor Club has a number of Google Groups - one for each section. These allow members of each group to send emails to all other group members via the group email address.
If you wish to receive updates on Section activities and have not already joined the relevant Google Group: email@example.com, firstname.lastname@example.org, etc. then please email email@example.com , using the email address that you have included in your SOC website account, specifying which sections you wish to receive information about.
You do not need a Google account to use the Google Groups (it is possible just to send and receive emails), but you do need an account to use the Google Groups web site. For convenience, there is a page for each section on the SOC web site (link in each section's menu within the "Activities" menu on the left), which shows the embedded Google Groups web page for that section. The Google log in is independent from the SOC web site login.
Swaledale Outdoor Club has a Google Group for all social activities such as the annual dinner, ceilidhs, quiz nights, the Bake Off etc. This allows members of the group to send emails to all other group members via the group email address. Social activities are only advertised and organised via the Google Group, information is not sent out via section Google Groups, so if you might be interested in social activities then it's a good idea to join this Google Group.
If you wish to receive updates on Social activities and have not already joined the Google Group: firstname.lastname@example.org then please email email@example.com and ask to be added to the Group.
Some sections have set up Facebook pages and use these as an additional means of communicating and recording their adventures. You can find a link to the Facebook pages on a section's home page where this is applicable.

Each section has an organiser to oversee activities within their section. There is a "Contact Section Organiser" link at the head of each section's menu within the "Activities" menu on the left.
