Welcome to the Mountain Biking section!

We are a very enthusiastic group of mountain bikers of all ages (not just men, lots of women as well!) and all abilities (from easy-going to 24 hour race teams) and we have a varied and full programme of rides all year round. This includes all-day Sunday rides, night rides on Wednesdays, some Saturday rides, weekends in the Lakes and longer Bank Holiday weekends in Wales, Scotland and other far flung places.

See some videos of what we get up to Here!

We've got something for everyone so don't be shy, your local mountain bikers need YOU! If you would like to contact ride organisers then create an account top left and login as a guest to access the Club information > Members' Programme from the menu on the left hand side, this contains contact details for each ride.

We mainly ride XC (cross country) on our local trails in the Yorkshire Dales, North York Moors and North Pennines and also further afield in the Lake District, Peak District, Scotland, Wales etc. The summer months see trips to the Alps for the gravity assisted biking available in France, Switzerland, Austria etc. and during the colder months trips to Spain or Morocco are popular. There is usually somebody going somewhere!

We are also frequent visitors to the purpose built mountain biking centres both locally at Hamsterley and Dalby and also Whinlatter and Grizedale in the Lakes. Bank holidays often see us trying out the trails in Wales (Coed y Brenin, Afan Argoed, Llandegla etc) and Scotland (7 Stanes, Laggan Wolftrax and sometimes even further north) usually combined with a few days riding the wealth of natural trails in these areas as well.

We can be quite serious (teams regularly ride and do well in 24 hour and 10 hour endurance events) and also quite silly; fifteen people came on the Christmas ride dressed as fairies, elves and Father Christmas towing a sledge through mud for 15 miles. We do tough days out carrying and dragging our bikes over high passes to get to the fantastic singletrack on the other side, we do laid-back sunny days out with plenty of stops for ice-cream and paddling and we have family rides suitable for children (and adults of course). We do evening rides all year round and these can be very pleasant in June when we end up sitting outside drinking beer or quite unpleasant on a wet and cold night in January when you wonder what possessed you to come along!
