Paddlers going round the south end of Lismore often use this gap to nip through, avoiding the more exposed passage by the Lismore light. There is a tide race through the gap as well, of course, though one can usually sneak up an eddy to get through, as we did (by the near shore, against the ebb tide) soon after this photo was taken.
