This selection of trip reports covers sea trips (in the broadest sense - which will include inland flat water). SOC sea trips range from day trips on the northeast or lake district coast to full-blown expeditionary paddling almost anywhere in the world. People are more inclined to write about their adventures further afield, so you may find that the latter are over-represented here, but rest assured that SOC does plenty of local and introductory sea and lake paddling too.
Many of these articles are taken from our monthly newsletter, but you will find more photographs here, and possibly more detail than went in the paper publication. Many of the trip reports have a link to an "Additional Notes" page which contains more factual detail such as weather charts, tide times and links to more information such as guidebooks, maps, detailed route information, sources for weather or tidal predictions and other people's reports for trips in the same area.. The idea is to condense information that will be useful to those hoping to plan a trip in the same area, without bogging down the "story" told in the main trip report. For trips that we do every year, much of this information will be summarised under the "Favourite trips" heading in "Frequently Asked Questions". |
