Sutton Bank

16 people and two dogs met at the visitor centre.

Two new members joined us - Tammy and George.

To say that it was a busy start would be an understatement! We shared the car park with a large group of people getting ready for a race which was also to start from the car park.

The walk was delayed by half an hour due to some of us being held up with road works in Thirsk and others by an accident half way up the bank.

The weather forecast was good and by the time we set off along Sutton Brow it was already quite warm. Three of the party were brave enough to set of in shorts and a couple of others joined in later.

After a short distance along the Brow we turned left down Garbutts Wood past Midge Home House and into the lovely village of Boltby. Some of us pondered over the price of a house that was for sale, but by the end of the village had decided that it was probably out of our price range and anyway the garage was definitely too small! We continued on up the hill to Boltby forest, still enjoying the exceptionally warm spring weather.

We stopped for lunch at Windygill Ridge overlooking Cowsby Kepwick and the Vale of Mowbray. The views were lovely although a little hazy.

Nobody was in a hurry to move, we were all just enjoying the sunshine. Eventually rucksacks were packed and off we went along the Drovers Road to join the Cleveland Way which we followed all the way back to the car park. It was by now a lot quieter as all the runners had long gone.

Thank you Judith for a really enjoyable walk…

No muddy boots or wet gear to take home . What a treat!!
