Sunday 7th SeptemberAfter an early start nine of us met up in the Lakes at Little Langdale, near Ambleside. A beautiful bright, sunny morning belied the forecast of heavy rain which may unfortunately have put off more walkers from joining us. After a steep ascent, at some times I felt it was more like scrambling, we reached the summit of Wetherlam fell for a well earned lunch break. We then continued up Swirl fell and followed Wet Side Edge round back to base. There was a little cloud here and there but otherwise visibility was excellent with tremendous views across the fells. The only surprise was the lack of other walkers - obviously this area seems to be a well kept secret. Well worth another visit. Elaine Broderick |
