Borrowby

Five SOC members met my daughter, her boyfriend and myself in the quiet village of Borrowby situated just off the busy A19 north of Thirsk. Quiet that is apart from the large tractors and silage trailers thundering along the narrow roads through the village till late in the evening, this being one of the few dry periods for some days. Yes I did manage to lead a dry walk for once. The clouds were threatening as we wound our way across the fields and pastures around the village but it remained dry. We were amazed at how many black and white cows and youngstock there were to be found in one parish. Daughter Lindsay was using the walk as a training exercise for her forthcoming expedition to the Grand Canyon and to try out her new (larger) rucksack which was well ballasted with bottles of water. For the information of those who saw it, I weighed it the next day at 18 Kilos! No wonder she was always at the back. As seems to be usual a detour to the local hostelry for a lemonade finished the evening off. My thanks to everyone who joined us. I hope you all enjoyed my simple little walk..
