Swaledale and Wensleydale6 of us met at Nuns Close Car Park. It was good to see Anne and Melanie back on an SOC ride, Paul was in great demand first trying to find out what was causing a suspicious burning smell under Helen's car, then blowing up Anne's tyres and tightening Mike's handlebars. We finally set off up Holly Hill only to loose Paul and Helen. It turned out, Helen's chain had snapped, Paul to the rescue again or so we thought. Soft metal prevented a satisfactory repair resulting in it breaking again together with the front changer. Helen unfortunately had to abandon the ride while the remainder of us continued and took the Redmire Road down Scarth Nick. Then on to the lovely gated road to the Grinton road and Bolton Castle for refreshments. Here Paul left us to go and feed his piggies while we followed the back road to Wensley, through Leyburn and to Halfpenny via the little hamlet of Barden. Ann left us to return to Richmond whilst Mike, Melanie and myself continued to Catterick Camp centre. Star rider Mike rode back to Northallerton giving him a good 60 miles.
