Kirklevington

Well I never expected to be riding at all after the heavy snow fall of the later part of the week; So much so that I had left to go to Harrogate overnight and returned expecting to find no-one at the start point. But to my surprise the snow had gone and there were at least 5 people waiting for me. It was quite an unusual group to be out with me, but I wasn't with the mt bike section. I had the company of Jane, Jane, Mel, and Jan and Keith who after cycling down Kirklevington lane with us sped off as obvioulsy couldn't face cycling with 5 gossiping women! We women had a lovely ride with excellent company, especially once we discovered we had so much in common - 4 teachers, mostly disillusioned with the job!

We rode through to Appleton Wiske, Picton, across to Crathorne for lunch, but being unsuccessful we ventured on to Hutton Rudby only to find Sunday lunches or nothing served in their pubs! Sorry I had not checked out those details! We had already decided not to follow the planned figure of 8 as all felt we wanted a longer ride in the sunshine! After leaving Hutton Rudby we cycled off towards Stokesly and left to Stainton, returning to Yarm along the back lanes, which proved rather hairy because of close driving traffic and awful strong winds and rain!

We made it back to Kirklevington having forged new friendships and having enjoyed the day's ride, and it was still only 2.30pm. Excellent! I even had time to wash my much neglected road bike and the car!
