Great Smeaton

Yet another windy day and I had that "Oh no not again" feeling, and I couldn't think who would be out in this weather, although Grant did say he was going. I was pleasantly surprised when I saw Grant, Helen and Dave and Chris Meek and my enthusiasm for a good ride raised immediately. We had a mixture of tail and cross wind as we made our way to Swainby. The ride was down as moderate so it had to have a hill in it somewhere and what better one than Scarth Nick. After the climb we passed Sheepwash and descended into Osmotherley for a much needed tea stop.

We had a rewarding descent down Clack bank and then on to West Harlsey and Deighton where Paul left us to cycle back to Northallerton. The heavens opened and we tried to shelther under a tree but gave up and decided to get wet in the last two miles to Smeaton. I hope everyone enjoyed the ride and thanks for turning up in the windy weather.
