Orange Eggs and Dirty Faces

Cliff Force Cave

A reasonably sized and well behaved group of Geoff, Lucia, Steven, Alison, Gareth and Mike set off to Cliff force cave on Saturday 8th February. After looking at the amount of water in the Swale it was agreed that the Room of Dangling Doom was not going to be reached (again). The group proceeded to the stream way and climbed up into the upper series, all the group except myself and Mike squeezed through the tight section, Lucia did her best to talk me through the tightest section but a couple of stone were in the way. Going back to the climb down, Mike was careful to stay out of the way as I came down, the rock that that I dislodged and nearly took off Steven's leg in a previous trip was a visible subtle reminder.

Making our way back towards the shower chamber we got lost a couple of times and eventually bumped into Steven who was leading the other group through the tight section. He informed us that the sling that I had dropped in the squeeze had come in handy to help Lucia become unstuck. A quick visit to the orange egg passage with it's orange flowstone and sporting squeezes was well worth the visit and a stop at a pub on the way back completed an enjoyable trip even if the barman thought us a bit dirty.
